Organising events offers an opportunity to further the discourse on political leadership.

This is especially true for series of events, scheduled on a regular basis. Organising such events is seen as one of the core tasks of the Branch of Political Leadership.

 

Fireside Chats

The Branch of Political Leadership regularly initiates fireside chats (without an actual fire place)! Those small, exclusive events for policy-junkies present an opportunity for dialogue, discussion and in-depth professional discourse within our field of expertise.

Peter Hajek, Peter Hajek Public Opinion Strategies was invited to speak in the aftermath of the Vienna-elections 2015 to elaborate on political leadership and public opinion survey. The event was moderated by the branch's founding member Regina M. Jankowitsch. The discussion involved qualitative implications of quantitative surveys and the impact of election-cycle typical horse race journalism on political leadership.

 

Series of Lectures

The series of lectures started in with journalist Anneliese Rohrer. The annual series of lectures should predominantly allow people with experience in political leadership, such as politicians and journalists, to share their personal experience and insight.

From the Branch of Political Leadership organised three public lectures on the subject.

 

Lecture by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen

Location: Austrian Institute for International Politics (OIIP), Berggasse 7, 1090 Wien

The renown politician of the Austrian Greens, Alexander Van der Bellen, is invited to speak about political leadership, especially about the question of excellence in political leadership.

After the lecture there is time for discussing the following questions:

Dr. Doris Wolfslehner, boardmember of the Austrian Political Science Association, is scheduled to moderate the event.

The lecture is part of the series "1970-2010 / 40 Years AuPSA" and it is a joint venture of AuPSA and the Branch of "Political Leadership".

 

Lecture by Dr. Alfred Gusenbauer

Socialdemocrat and former Austrian chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer speaks following an invitation of the Branch Political Leadership.

 

Lecture by Anneliese Rohrer

Austrian journalist Anneliese Rohrer is invited to speak by the Branch of Political Leadership.

Her presentation marks the starting point for an annual lecture series.
